ACTING on a special instruction of Health Minister Veena George, a high-level expert team conducted a detailed examination of the PMSSY block at Kozhikode Government Medical College Hospital (MCH), following a second alarming incident involving smoke on the sixth floor of the building.

- EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE @Kozhikode

The team comprised two experts from the Kannur Regional Forensic Science Laboratory, one expert from the Kozhikode Forensic Science Laboratory, and officials from the Electrical Inspectorate and PWD electrical wing.

The team focused on the surgical super-specialties, accident, and emergency departments of the PMSSY block, where fire broke out twice, one due to an explosion involving 34 batteries and the second one reported on May 5 during the inspection of the existing machinery. Notably, Electrical Inspectorate officials were already present for a routine inspection when the second smoke incident occurred.
