University not responding to requests for a copy of internal committee report, says family

THE family members of Ruby Patel, who died by suicide in Central University of Kerala (CUK) on April 2, 2024, alleged that there was no progress in the investigation even after one year and alleged that the university is not responding to their requests on getting a copy of the internal committee report on the suicide.

Addressing the media here on Tuesday, Ruby's sister Asha Rani Patel and her husband Kuleshwar Prasad Sahu blamed the humiliation the scholar allegedly suffered under her PhD supervisor which triggered her to take the extreme step.

Asha brushed aside the university's claim that Ruby was under depression and said that she had big plans for her future and she was planning to spend the upcoming get-together with the family. "Even if the university found that Ruby was under depression, what measures did they take to address it?" asked Asha.
