KSU alleges corruption against ex-dist panchayat prez Divya

SERIOUS allegations of corruption have been levelled against P P Divya, the former president of the Kannur district panchayat, by the Kerala Students Union (KSU).
At a press meet in Kannur on Wednesday, KSU state vice-president Muhammad Shammas accused Divya of awarding multi-crore contracts to a benami company allegedly operated by her husband and misusing her position for personal gain.
Shammas claimed that the benami company, Carton India Alliance Private Limited, was established on August 1, 2021, shortly after Divya assumed her role as district panchayat president. The company, reportedly headed by her close associate Muhammad Asif, secured construction contracts worth Rs 11 crore under the district panchayat through Steel Industrials Kerala Limited (SILK).
