Initiative Addressing Lifestyle Diseases Among Residents Gains Attention

‘MEDIP,’ a healthcare initiative launched by Kayyur Cheemeni grama panchayat four years ago to detect lifestyle diseases among its residents, has garnered widespread acclaim from both within and outside the panchayat.
The programme was initiated after the panchayat authorities found out that many residents in their ward were having lifestyle diseases, prompting to recognise its significant impact on the community.
The panchayat, with the support from the health authorities, has been conducting checkups every month for the residents in each ward and providing guidelines regarding their health. To foster community involvement, health clubs were established in each ward with 25 members each, who engage in regular physical exercise.
