Demolition of Dharmasala underpass begins on NH 66

The demolition of the narrow box culvert underpass on the national highway at Dharmasala is in progress, marking a major step forward in improving traffic infrastructure in the region.
The project, spearheaded by Vishwasamudra Constructions, commenced on Thursday with the dismantling of the existing culvert that connects Dharmasala to the Anjampeetika-Cherukunnu Thara route.
This initiative is part of a broader plan to widen and upgrade the current underpass, which has long been criticised for its impractical design. Originally built as a box culvert measuring just four metres wide and three metres high, the underpass proved insufficient for large vehicles, particularly buses.
