THE Jain community has urged the Karnataka government to establish a Jain Development Corporation with an annual allocation of Rs 200 crore to address their specific needs and demands.
Speaking at a press conference here on Sunday, community leader Vinod Doddanavar emphasised the urgent need for fair representation and support for the Jain community. He highlighted several demands, including the allocation of dedicated minority hostels for Jains. Of the 414 minority hostels across the state, the community has requested one hostel per district and two hostels in districts with significant Jain populations or cities with prominent educational centres. Additionally, they also demanded 50% reservation for the students in 'vegetarian-only' hostels.
