Scheme is not production-linked but employment-linked, govt clarifies
The government has approved the Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme, with an outlay of ₹22,919 crore, to boost the country's electronics manufacturing sector.
The Minister of Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, on Friday announcing the scheme said that its aim is to increase domestic value addition (DVA), enhance capacity and capabilities, and integrate Indian companies into global value chains (GVCs).
The scheme is projected to attract an investment of ₹59,350 crore, generating production worth ₹4,56,500 crore over the next six years. It is also expected to create 91,600 direct jobs, along with numerous indirect employment opportunities.
