Sabarimala case hearing ends, verdict reserved

AFTER a marathon 16-day hearing in the Sabarimala reference case, a nine-judge Constitution bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant, on Thursday reserved verdict on a batch of review petitions concerning discrimination against women at religious places, including the Sabarimala temple in Kerala.
The bench also examined the scope of religious freedom and practices followed by multiple faiths, including the Dawoodi Bohra community.
