IT giant to invest ₹1,370 crore in the unit, to create 12,000 jobs
THE state Cabinet that met under the leadership of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday allotted 21.16 acres of land in Visakhapatnam for Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) at a symbolic lease price of just 99 paise. The land is located at IT Hill No.3 in the Port City.
Minister for IT, Electronics and Communications Nara Lokesh was instrumental behind the move. Lokesh visited Tata House in October last year and made a strong pitch for TCS to set up a large development centre in Andhra Pradesh. The company will invest ₹1370 crore in this unit to create 12,000 jobs.
It is a bold decision to signal to the industry that Andhra Pradesh is serious about attracting IT investments. In the past, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken Tata Motors to Sanand in Gujarat by allotting land to them for 99 paise. This marked a landmark moment for the auto industry in Gujarat.
