Says several schemes have been implemented to provide social security to such workers by Congress govt in state

- EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE @ Hubballi

STATING that about 90 per cent of the country's working class is in the unorganised sector, Labour Minister Santosh Lad said several schemes have been implemented to provide social security to such workers, but it should be ensured that these schemes reach every eligible beneficiary.

Speaking after distributing smart cards to various unorganised workers of Dharwad district here on Monday, he said for the past two years, sincere efforts have been made to ensure that these welfare schemes reach the people.

"Over 1.80 crore individuals have registered on the Central government's e-Shram portal. Approximately 1.60 crore families from the unorganised sector have registered, including 35 to 40 lakh construction workers. Transport workers have also been brought under the unorganised sector," he stated.
