HC Stays Proceedings Against Rahul in BJP's Defamation Case

THE Karnataka High Court on Friday stayed criminal proceedings initiated against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi based on a defamation case filed by the state BJP unit for allegedly sharing on his X handle advertisements published in newspapers, projecting BJP as corrupt ahead of the 2023 Assembly election.
Justice M Nagaprasanna passed the interim order of stay to the proceedings pending before the special court to try cases against sitting and former MLAs and MPs (triable by magistrate) against Rahul, who is one of the accused among others, and issued an emergent notice to BJP.
