Luxury cruise liner MV Empress to dock in Pondy port on July 4, head to Chennai on same day
PUDUCHERRY is poised to make a significant foray into India's growing cruise tourism sector, with the luxury cruise liner MV Empress scheduled to dock at Puducherry Port on July 4. Operated by Cordelia Cruises, the vessel will arrive from Visakhapatnam and depart for Chennai the same evening, marking the union territory's official entry into the domestic cruise circuit.
The launch will feature two cruise routes involving Puducherry: Chennai-Visakhapatnam-Puducherry-Chennai and Chennai-Puducherry-Chennai. The cruise liner will anchor off the Puducherry coast around 8.30 am, and depart by 7 pm. Passengers will be ferried ashore via smaller boats and taken on guided sightseeing tours arranged by the PTDC.
