Explosives used to break rocks cause temple mandapam to collapse

THE mandapam of a temple was damaged due to explosives used for breaking rocks on the riverbed during the construction of a bridge on the Manjalar River in Batlagundu of Dindigul, alleged villagers.
Residents from Koodathu Ayyampalayam in Kunnuvarankottai panchayat in Batlagundu heard a huge rumbling noise early on Saturday.
As they moved in the direction of the noise, they found that a large mandapam near a Hindu temple had completely collapsed.
Since there were no persons in the vicinity, no mishaps were reported.
