OECD raises India’s FY26 growth outlook to 6.7% despite tariff woes

|September 24, 2025
DESPITE tariff-related uncertainties, India’s economic growth prospect in FY26 remains strong. OECD has revised upwards India’s GDP estimate for FY26 to 6.7% from 6.3% earlier as it believed economic activities will be supported by monetary and fiscal policy easing.
S&P Global Ratings, meanwhile, has retained India’s GDP forecast at 6.5% for FY26 on the back of strong demand, increasing investment, and tax reforms.
In its report on global economic outlook published on Tuesday, OECD has noted that while higher tariff rates will weigh on the country’s exports sector, overall (economic) activity is anticipated to be supported by monetary and fiscal policy easing, including the reform to the Goods and Services Tax.
