WEST Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday hit back at Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent comments linking the Trinamool Congress with corruption and crime, urging him to show mutual respect.
Speaking at a government programme in Bardhaman town in Purba Bardhaman district, Banerjee said, "I respect the Prime Minister's chair, but he should also respect ours. Why should he say, 'I stopped the funds because there are thieves in Bengal'?" She termed Modi's remarks, made during an August 22 rally in Dum Dum, an "insult to the people of Bengal."
