TENSION erupted during the Gopavaram Deputy Sarpanch election as TDP leaders allegedly attacked YSRCP members with stones, preventing them from participating. A vehicle was damaged, and two people were injured. Police reportedly remained passive spectators.
Gopavaram Panchayat has 20 ward members—11 from YSRCP and nine from TDP. The election required a quorum of 11. Nine TDP members and two YSRCP members were present.
