Chittoor records 1,540 cases in 2024-25, while Tirupati scores 1,675
TIRUPATI and Chittoor district police collected ₹2.5 crore fines over the past one year from drunk driving offenders under the amended Motor Vehicles Act. According to official data, Tirupati Police imposed fines whose total came up to ₹1.5 crore, while Chittoor Police collected almost ₹1.3 crore. The two districts registered over 3,200 cases of drunk driving during this period.
Chittoor District recorded 1,540 cases, and Tirupati District registered 1,675 cases. Courts sentenced 84 offenders to jail and seized their vehicles.
