'Think about it...': Rahul cites TMS report, says Maha farmers ignored

CITING a report published by TMS on farmer suicides in Maharashtra, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Thursday hit out at the Centre over alleged indifference to the farmers' plight "even as they are sinking deeper into debt every day."
On Wednesday, this newspaper reported that as many as 767 farmers died by suicide in Maharashtra between January and March this year. The disclosure was made by the Relief and Rehabilitation minister, Makrand Patil, in the state assembly while replying to Congress' question on the rising number of farmer suicides, particularly in Vidarbha, and rehabilitation measures taken by the state government.
