Mystery illness grips Gujarat school, eye infection catches 120 students

A sudden and baffling health scare rocked the J M Desai Vidhyamandir School in Jhank village in Gujarat's Gandhinagar district where over 120 students have been struck by a mysterious eye condition, triggering a state-level medical response.
What began on June 30 with few isolated complaints of redness of the eyes, burning, irritation, and double-vision, quickly escalated, affecting 122 students out of the total 225 residing in the hostel.
Alarmed by the scale of the outbreak, the school rushed the affected students to Gandhinagar Civil Hospital for urgent care and screening.
