'Karnataka attracted highest number of international students in 2021-22'

KARNATAKA attracted the highest number of international students in the country in 2021-22, as per government data.

It is followed by Punjab, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi, respectively, according to the All India Survey for Higher Education (AISHE) 2021-22 report.
Of the total of 46,878 international students 31,008 male and 15,870 female who came to India from 170 different countries in 2021-22, different states drew them when selecting undergraduate, post-graduate, and other integrated and certificate courses.
While Karnataka was the top preferred destination for most international students when pursuing undergraduate courses, especially BTech, Maharashtra was the top draw for post-graduation courses.
