Heavy traffic snarls on New Year day as people throng major attractions

DELHI saw significant traffic jams and overcrowding at metro stations on New Year's Day as people thronged popular spots like India Gate, Connaught Place, and religious sites across the city.

The C-Hexagon near India Gate was heavily congested as large crowds gathered on Kartavya Path. Other major attractions included Bangla Sahib Gurdwara, Prachin Hanuman Mandir in Connaught Place, Akshardham Mandir, Jhandewalan Mandir, Khatu Shyam Mandir on GT Road, and Jagannath Temple in South Delhi.
A police officer stated that managing the crowd at India Gate, Ashoka Road, Hanuman Mandir, and Connaught Place was their primary focus.
