Bose suggests presence of adequate cops for enumeration exercise

- SUBHENDU MAITI @ Kolkata

WEST Bengal Governor C V Ananda Bose on Friday recommended three measures to the state government to ensure safety of the booth-level officers (BLOs) involved in the special intensive revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.

A statement issued by the Lok Bhavan said Bose suggested that the state government direct district administrations to provide security to the BLOs when they visit voters at their doorsteps for enumeration. He urged the government to depute an adequate number of police personnel to accompany the BLOs who virtually work round-the-clock for the SIR exercise. Bose also requested the government to provide the BLOs with necessary basic facilities so that they can discharge their functions.
