UNTERS face a competitive card on the poly at Hollywoodbets Greyville tomorrow.

- ANDREW HARRISON

The programme is littered with low-grade handicaps so it will be all hands on deck.

It should pay to load the wallet in the first maiden races that look to hold a few punting prospects before heading into the minefields.

Pinetti

In the first, Pinetti was a beaten favourite last time out when trying further but is back to a more suitable trip. Main danger could come in the form of Grand Force who is seldom far back and has run well over course and distance. With a 4kg claimer up he will be competitive. Captain Frank had to negotiate a wide draw in his poly debut and can improve while Senor Resfrio showed up well last run on the turf and may be coming to hand.

In the second, Xiphos gets first time blinkers and was much improved on the poly last run. He should go close again and get the better of longtime maiden Sovereign Command who has struggled to shed his maiden but has come well of late and finished ahead of Xiphos last time out. There should not be much between the two but blinkers could make all the difference for Xiphos. This could be a boat race between these two.

But beneath the headlines lies a far more consequential opportunity: the chance for South Africa - with its business leadership at the forefront - to redefine its global narrative, champion multilateralism and strengthen its position as a bridge between the West and the Global South.
