Wissa is in sight as Magpies seek boost

CONFIDENCE is growing over Newcastle United pulling off their second senior transfer of the summer as a deal for Brentford's Yoane Wissa is pursued.
The forward took the decision to leave his club's Portuguese training base, located in Cascais, early yesterday to jet home for talks with a man once linked with replacing Dan Ashworth at Newcastle - Brentford's director of football, Phil Giles.
The expectation is Wissa is seeking to leave the Bees amid high interest in his signature.
Newcastle, Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest have all expressed an interest this summer.
Forest saw a £25m bid rejected earlier in the window, while Newcastle have fallen flat with a similar offer recently.
