Tonali stays quiet on his long-term future plan

SANDRO Tonali has remained coy over his long term Newcastle United future after it was revealed he had signed a contract extension at the club back in 2023.

In an honest and open response, the midfielder admits he is happy on Tyneside - but referenced Alexander Isak’s situation as to how things can change.

The Italy international is now under contract at St James’ Park until the summer of 2029 although the Magpies have the option to extend the deal by a further year.

However, Eddie Howe revealed a couple of weeks ago that he would love to tie down Tonali to fresh terms at Newcastle.

But when asked after Wednesday's 2-0 win over Athletic Bilbao if he sees his long-term future at the club, Tonali said he isn’t thinking that far ahead at the moment and is instead just focusing on the here and now.
