A FORMER Bank of England chief economist and Government Levelling Up guru has been appointed as chair of the board at The Glasshouse International Centre for Music.

Sunderland-born Andy Haldane, who is the outgoing chief executive of the Royal Society of Arts, has held a number of high-profile roles spanning public service, policy and economic development.
Mr Haldane, whose father was a professional musician and is said to be a music lover himself, is set to join in autumn as it celebrates its 20th anniversary and sets out a vision for its third decade.
