These new glasses could be a game-changer for the hard of hearing

- JUSTIN CONNOLLY

SEE HEAR

TECHNOLOGY can get a bad rap these days - all you hear are horror stories about Al and just how awful people can be on social media.

But obviously technology can be used for good things, too. It’s just we tend to overlook just how much of an impact it’s had on our lives on that side of the scale.

A few weeks ago we highlighted Apple’s accessibility efforts, particularly in relation to its work on assisting those with vision problems.

This week we look at another side to that accessibility work this time from a company called EssilorLuxottica. You may never have heard of them but they are the parent company behind famous brands like Ray-Ban, Oakley, and Persol, among others.

But while we are talking eyewear here, we're not talking about helping the vision impaired in any other way than with their regular prescription lenses.

EssilorLuxottica has already teamed up with Meta to make the Ray-Ban smart specs, but its new work focuses on hearing - meet the Nuance Audio hearing glasses.

HEALTHY START

January is the right time for a reset. Nothing extreme, just food to help you feel good. Think fresh flavours, colourful plates and meals as nourishing as they are comforting. Soothing soups, vibrant salads and a spicy curry are on my menu plus, of course, the odd selection box chocolate which needs eating up!
