Roadworks warning as major routes affected

RESIDENTS of Whitley Bay have been informed about a series of extensive roadworks and temporary closures scheduled to begin today.

The works will be conducted over three phases, beginning with Northern Gas work on the A193 Park Avenue. The maintenance will see gas pipes replaced with more durable materials.

From today, temporary traffic lights will be in place to deal with traffic following the closure of the southbound lane of Park Avenue from the York Road junction.
