Objections overruled as store wins alcohol licence

LOCALS are set to be disappointed over the approval of a new alcohol licence in Whitley Bay, says a resident.

North Tyneside Council's licensing committee this week approved an amended alcohol licence application for a new prospective Family Shopper store on Park View, formally a Barclays bank.

The application was granted despite online objections from locals and representations made in person. Concerns ranged from the potential for public nuisance, the suggested abundance of already licensed premises on Park View, and whether such a business was right in a residential area.
