Man 'caused serious alarm and distress' in stand-off

A MAN has been fined for causing “serious alarm and distress” in a rooftop stand-off which lasted around an hour.

Wayne Young sparked a police response after he was seen running “back and forth” across rooftops in Denton, Newcastle.

Young, of Denton Court, Newcastle, appeared at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday to be sentenced for a public order offence of using threatening or abusive words or behaviour.

The 35-year-old pleaded guilty to the charge.
