Make a meal of it as food festival returns

THE centre of Sunderland will be transformed into an international hub from tomorrow for three days of eating, drinking and fun activities.

A popular event is making its long weekend return and will be adding to the mix with live music, including an X Factor performer and a classic car show.

Sunderland Food & Drink Festival will feature worldwide cuisine with food options from Greece, Germany, America, Turkey, the Caribbean, Asia and Mexico, while those with a sweet tooth will be well catered for with treats ranging from home-made cakes to fudge.

There will be arts and crafts too, along with DJ sets and new green-theme events.

The festival’s June 6-8 programme will play out across Keel Square, High Street West and Market Square and on Friday - when stalls will be opening up along High Street West - the music will get under way at 11am with a performance by Rock Choir on the main stage at Keel Square.
