Lidl unveils Ponteland store plans

DISCOUNT supermarket chain Lidl has unveiled plans for a new store in Ponteland on the site of a former nursery.
The planned shop on the site of the former Lane Nurseries off Callerton Lane would create around 40 new jobs, Lidl said.
The planned store in the Northumberland village would feature an in-house bakery, as well as other features common to Lidl stores.
Lidl said the shop had been designed to fit in with the character of its surroundings, with landscaping and tree planting across the site. It would have solar panels on its roof and cycle spaces, as well as car parking and electric vehicle charging points.
