Isidor: I nearly missed out on signing for Cats

WILSON Isidor has revealed he might not have joined Sunderland last season as he was meant to move to a club in the Champions League.

- By CLIVE YOULTON

French outfit Brest was the intended destination for the striker who scored 13 goals and was the Black Cats’ top scorer in the Championship even though he didn’t score between February 13 and May 9.

That 13-game drought has cast doubts on whether Isidor will be able to find the net regularly in the Premier League.

The Frenchman signed for the Black Cats on an initial loan agreement from Russian side Zenit St. Petersburg last summer, before making his stay in the North East permanent during the January transfer window.

In an interview with YouTube channel Samos TV, the 24-year-old opened up on how close he came to switching to Brest.
