IDF are the real villains

C JACKSON trusts “that the justice system will be upheld” and Bob Vylan “arrested, charged, and jailed” for his ‘death to the IDF’ chant at Glastonbury.

After all, Lucy Connolly was jailed for “posting a tweet on X calling for hotels housing asylum seekers to be set on fire”; if Vylan is not charged, Mr Jackson wants to know “why not?” (Letters, Tuesday).

First, Vylan’s chant is metaphorical. A peace-loving crowd at Glastonbury is not - and would not be - capable of attacking one of the most powerful armies thousands of miles away, unlike Connolly's urgings, which directly threatened asylum seekers and required active policing.
