Heritage site awarded £400,000 to protect future

A COUNTY Durham historic site which is home to 15 listed buildings has been awarded £400,000 as it aims to secure its long-term future.

Ushaw Historic House, Chapels and Gardens, which is set across 550 acres of gardens, grounds and landscapes four miles from Durham city centre, says that the funding will support a “transformative” vision for the site.
The National Lottery Heritage Fund has awarded £250,000 and Historic England has granted £150,000 to a project designed to conserve the site's architectural and historically significant assets, while enhancing visitor experience.
