Health alert as sub-zero temperatures forecast

A major health warning has been sent out for the North East as temperatures drop.

It comes as the region is expected to see snow with subzero temperatures during the first cold snap of the winter.

The Met Office has already shared a yellow weather warning for snow and ice for the region. It runs from 6am today, to 6pm tomorrow.

Now, an amber cold health alert has been issued by the UK Health Security Agency and covers the North East, North West, Yorkshire and the Humber.
