Girl, 17, dies in A19 crash with driver hospitalised

A 17-YEAR-OLD girl died in a crash on the A19 that also saw a man, 19, critically injured on Monday evening, police have confirmed.

The crash took place on the A19 northbound carriageway between Seaham and the Herrington Interchange at Sunderland.
The girl is said to have been a passenger in a Vauxhall Corsa, driven by the man, police said.
Officers from Northumbria Police have now appealed for witnesses to the crash - understood to have taken place shortly after 11pm - to come forward to assist with their investigation.
