SUNDERLAND are hoping former Arsenal captain Granit Xhaka will boost their midfield for their Premier League return.
Wearside transfer chiefs have made their interest known to Bayer Leverkusen for the 32-year-old Swiss international. With rival interest from clubs in the cash-rich Saudi Arabia league, Sunderland hope the lure of a return to the Premier League will be enough to entice Xhaka in a deal which would cost £8.6m.
