Fish and chip firm to run village cafe after buyout

FISH and chip experts the Colman family now have another string to their bow, having taken over a cafe at the heart of the community in a village that has been rated as one of the best places to live in the region.

Colmans is turning 100 this year and, at the start of April, catered for a member of the royal family when Princess Anne dined at the Seafood Temple in South Shields as one of the calling points on her flying visit to the North East.

As well as the Temple, Colmans have their original home on Ocean Road and a restaurant in Fenwick in Newcastle city centre.

And now the family has branched out to take over The Village Cafe in Whitburn.
