Everything comes to she who waits – long may it last

THE last proper gig I had as a TV presenter was the UEFA Euro 2016 tournament.

Straight after that, my presenting career keeled over and died.

I wasn’t expecting it. And it took me a long time to adjust to not being one any more.

But after a few years I just stopped thinking about it.

Life went on, I still spoke for a living, doing live talks with Mr C rather than on camera, solo.

I even enjoyed a new career, writing little books.

I got married, had a couple of kids.

Life was good, you know? I wasn’t really looking for anything else.

And then, out of nowhere, a job came up. Based in Newcastle, rather than constant travelling up and down the country, like I used to.

I went for a screen test, and was offered the role immediately. I started the next day. And, just like that, I was a presenter again. In my happiest of presenting genres; ie shouting into a camera for hours, without pausing, whilst flogging inanimate objects.

The role itself never changes, nor the style in which I deliver the constant sales monologue.
