Evacuated high-rise tenants out of hotels

THE “vast majority” of residents from a dilapidated Gateshead town centre high-rise have now been moved on from hotels, council says.

The move comes two months after residents were initially evacuated from Priory Court, on Hopper Street, in early June.

It is understood 30 households were taken from Priory court after the evacuation call was issued. By June 17, the ex-tenants were informed that due to the extent of the “waterfall” flooding, they would never be returned to Priory Court.
