Concerns mount for music festivals

THE organisers of two popular North East festivals have said "discussions are going on behind the scenes" amid growing speculation online that they might not take place this year and a social media post from a big-name act involved with similar events revealing their gigs had been pulled.

Both Kubix in Sunderland and Lindisfarne in Northumberland have grown in size and popularity over the last few years and, while the weather hasn't always played ball for either of them, they always pull in thousands of people, as well as attracting some big names.

In the last few years, Kubix has hosted headliners like Ronan Keating, Steps and Busted, while at Lindisfarne last year, ticket holders were treated to sets from the likes of Tom Walker, The Vaccines and De La Soul.
