Coast club plays host to thrilling finals day

The course, which boasts stunning views over Marsden Bay and the North Sea, was praised by senior county officials after successfully hosting the final stages of the Northumberland and Durham Inter County Foursomes Championship.

More than 80 clubs from both counties fielded teams in the championship which is the traditional opening event of the North East golf season and competitors were full of praise for the course following a major revamp by renowned golf architect Jonathan Gaunt, constructor Charles Grealish and thanks to sterling work from head green-keeper Eddie Cuthbert and his staff aided by a group of dedicated club volunteers.

Last year, the picturesque coastal club was invited to host the Durham County Seniors Championship following its comprehensive renova-

tion of bunkers and re-alignment of some fairways to return the course to 6,000-plus yards.
