Celebration as creativity hub is officially opened
The Journal
|August 15, 2025
A THREE-YEAR regeneration project has culminated in the official opening of North Shields creative business space Harbour House.

The Little Bedford Street property, formerly the Kasbah Furniture Market and North Shields Indoor Market, has been turned into a three-storey hive of activity including bakers Northern Rye, yoga studio We Rise, and florist and stylist Muscari, among others.
Now more than 90% full, the property is the brainchild of North Shields-based couple Skye-Alexander Ferry and Amy-Bose Wilson, who have a daughter named Harbour.
The pair have self-funded the project, which started in January 2023, and have poured a seven-figure sum into renovating the building including structural renovations, branding and its website.
Mr Ferry said: "Harbour House was never just about creating a workspace. It was about building something that brings people together, creatively and culturally.
"We wanted to create a space where designers, makers, artists, and independents could create meaningful work, while also connecting socially.
"We wanted to prove that world-class creative spaces don't need to exist only in big cities, but you can build them right here, in the place you're from."
