BOSSES at a Northumberland care home are “extremely disappointed” after a Care Quality Commission inspection found not enough was done to minimise the risk of people living there coming to harm.

- SAM VOLPE Reporter

Inspectors visited following an incident of “serious injury” they said was under criminal investigation.

This comes as an inspection report published last week also featured “mixed” feedback from residents at the Old Vicarage in Wooler and their families - with, according to inspectors, some “concerned about falls at the service and whether there were enough staff at busy times of the day.”

The home, operated by family firm People First Care, has made improvements since the inspection took place, bosses said, adding they felt confidence risk assessment processes were now “robust”.

The inspection assessment, which took place between August 13 and October 1 this year, was, inspectors said, “prompted in part by notification of an incident following which a person using the service sustained a serious injury”.

The inspection report reveals that this incident has been under criminal investigation, and: “As a result this inspection did not examine the circumstances of the incident.
