A NORTH East bingo player “burst into tears” when she discovered she had won £100,000 on a £2 bingo ticket.

The regular customer at Mecca Bingo in Gateshead was playing a special nationwide game of bingo to mark the final night of National Bingo Week when she discovered her fortune.

The game sees participating bingo halls nationwide link up to play, with the Bingo Association holding a one-off game, where the person who matched all the numbers on their ticket and claimed ‘house’ would win £100,000 - twice the usual jackpot.
