Air cadets to build battling robots for national competition

YOUNGSTERS from four local Royal Air Force Air Cadet squadrons across the North East are set to compete in a national robotics competition next week after securing their place in the final.
-
They are being supported by Go North East, and aiming to inspire engineers of the future.
Eighteen cadets from 405 Darlington, 234 Durham, 361 Gateshead and 1313 Whickham squadrons have been competing in the Vex Robotics League, where students are challenged to build and programme robots to battle it out to complete timed tasks.
Go North East will be delivering a new multi-million-pound national training programme investing in the region's next generation of engineers.
