Affordable homes plan approved for green belt

MORE than 20 new affordable homes can now be constructed in Northumberland despite initial concerns of sprawling into green belt land.

Northumberland County Council’s west planning committee has approved the construction of 21 new properties on land to the North of Red Lion House, Corbridge Road, Hexham.

The plans proved controversial as the development sits within the established green belt.
