DISCERNING diners in Newcastle have always waxed lyrical over the finesse of the flaky favourite Greggs sausage roll.
It's been turned into jewellery, badges and emblazoned on clothing yet now the region’s pastry perfection has received the highest accolade, after being immortalised in wax as the latest and most unexpected figure yet to go on display in Madame Tussauds London.

The zone is dedicated to those who have helped to shape the cultural landscape of the UK, featuring everyone from artists to political figures. And the Newcastle bakery’s top selling item also reached star status after 46% of Brits recognised it as a bona fide British icon.
