£200m development at port

TEESPORT operator PD Ports is hoping to help create a “significant” number of new jobs after outlining plans for a £200m development for the renewable energy industry.
PD has published plans for the Teesport Offshore Gateway, a 180-acre development on mostly unused land near the Teesport Container Terminal that would provide space for companies in the net zero sector.
The plans will involve the construction of a kilometre-long deep-water riverside quay to help accommodate some of the massive vessels involved in offshore energy. The port is looking to work with businesses, exports and the Government to develop the area.
PD's plans - which it says are at an “early stage” - come as the UK and Teesside in particular are hoping to capitalise on both the economic and the environmental benefits of the push towards cleaner energy.
